This non-sexual workshop is for those curious about or beginning their journey with rope bondage, or those with prior partnered rope experience who want to explore tying themselves. Rope can be sadistic or comforting, can make you feel safe or vulnerable, it can be like a cozy rope hug or like a torturous challenge. It really is what you make of it! Self tying can be a powerful way to connect with yourself, feel grounded, and explore your creativity.
There will be a limited amount of rope available to borrow for the workshop, but it is HIGHLY encouraged that you bring your own rope and safety scissors/shears (more info below)!
We will cover:
- safety and learning about potential risks and how to mitigate them
- single column tie (non-collapsing knot on a part of the body)
- frictions (what most of my ties consist of after I do a single column)
- joining rope
- If time allows, I’ll teach a specific pattern or harness based on the preferences of the workshop attendees
Bring with you:
- rope (nylon, POSH, jute, or hemp preferred, 2-6+ hanks of 15ft-30ft length)
- safety scissors/shears
- comfortable clothes that aren’t baggy
- towel, yoga mat, blanket, or something to sit and/or lay on comfortably
- water
- snack if you think you’ll want it
- curiosity and an open mind
Meet Your Faciliator
Bunny Luna (they/them) is an agender ecosexual artist, educator, and facilitator with a background in rope bondage, kink/BDSM, photography, modeling, yoga, aerial silks, somatics, and event organizing. They started their rope journey as a toddler, trying to tie their dad to a chair with clear tape when they were about 2 years old. Around 2010 Bunny started their “official” rope journey and in 2016 they experienced their first rope suspension, along with their first injury from rope. They took a few years off after their injury, then in summer 2022 their passion for rope was reignited! They have spent many hours learning from folks one on one in person, at rope labs and jams, at workshops and group classes, and through online resources such as Shibari Study, Crash Restraint, and Rope365. Bunny was Shibari Study’s student of the month for May 2023 and is a rope performer for PUSH in Durham (Nov 2023, April 2024, Nov 2024).
