Let’s gather around the fire to listen to retold stories accompanied by drums, singing voice, and other magical instruments. Listen and be part of the re-creation of a story as it would happen in this awakened world; contemplate, share, find meaning and possibilities, enjoy community.
The stories we hear and grow up with influence our becoming. Fairytales, heroic acts and journeys, fables, legends, real-life or made-up stories impact us deeply, acting like planted seeds inside our beings, which can grow with us as parts of ourselves. We often listen to their whisperings of hope or terror, of courage or fear, of trust or despair. They influence our path, feeding our expectations, beliefs and dreams, orienting our choices, conditioning and shaping our personalities. Some may bind us, some may free us.
Some stories are universal, yet many are rooted in specific social and historical conditions, embodying cultural values and stereotypes. When we intentionally listen to a story from a place of somatic awareness, with an open mind and curiosity, we become receptive to the way words and lines resonate with our heart, we find meaning in nuances and layers, we identify behavioral and relational patterns, we bring clarity into the mystery of our ways, and we restore our authentic choices.
This evening is envisioned as a fun and meaningful community experience, generative of personal and collective insights, enhancing our whole beings. Children that are mature enough to sit and listen quietly are welcomed in the circle. Younger children will have a special space set up with coloring pencils and paper to keep busy. Puzzles, Legos, and other quiet games are welcomed.
